Crush plot
"Love is messy AF."
Paige is a young, ambitious artist eager to attend art school. She is deeply in love with the popular girl Gabriella. Her friends advise her to look at other options available, but Paige doesn't listen and joins the track and field team to bond with Gabriella. Instead, she is paired up with Gabriella's sister, AJ. As Paige tries to win over her old love, she also slowly begins to fall for her teammate and Paige realizes that she may have found true love.

Ah.
Predictable film that is of course a logical choice to release from Disney + / Hulu. Once again, the focus of a female relationship and the feelings that go with it are central. There is of course nothing wrong with that, but just like normal romance films, it has to offer a little extra in the meantime.
I see any kind of relationship (unless of course it's too young or with a dead person) as normal these days, so I haven't been surprised by these kinds of topics for a long time. With that, the so-called USP of this film of course goes past my head. Then you hope that it can do something in terms of direction, but this does not happen either. It is the acting performances that are important.
You can also find morals in abundance, yet I must say that everything in this film is very easily forgiven, forgotten or made up. The writers actually skip entire parts. They must have moved out of a mindset that says that as long as there is a kiss, it will be forgiven from the audience. Maybe it is, but not for me.
Thanks to some good roles, there is some chemistry to some extent, the childish humor is also disturbing, but also the lack of special direction. This film cannot really distinguish itself in anything, and if it is hardly compelling or humorous, the fun will quickly end for the viewer. Disney + / Hulu, just like Netflix, are not doing themselves any good by releasing these kinds of originals.

Pleasant coming-of-age film about teenagers who struggle with their sexual orientation. In contrast to many films about lesbian relationships, a light-hearted and above all playful comedy about a theme that is still far too often hidden in the dark. I can appreciate that. Not the best, but quite entertaining.

Blanchard, Cravalho and Ferreira are disarming and charming at the same time, although I didn't find the sisters completely convincing as sisters. But who cares. All clichés are carefully typed, both with and without abbreviations. Is that a bad thing, well no - you could almost think that it is apparently becoming less important to get worked up about why people like each other. Well, for the duration of the film anyway.
