Skyggen i Mit Øje plot
1945, World War II. The Royal Air Force plans to attack Gestapo headquarters in the occupied Danish capital Copenhagen on March 21. One of the bombers crashes into a French school during the mission. The subsequent planes fire their bombs, thinking the school is the target. The drama that follows claims the lives of many children and innocent civilians.

Nice war drama. The true story is dramatic but unknown to many. The effect is somewhat variable. The first few minutes are very good. The tone has been set. Unfortunately, the film sags a bit after that. The characters are simply not captivating. Probably because they want to involve too many people in the film. Perhaps it would have been better to focus entirely on the school. Then there is a strong part as soon as the planes take off. Beautifully portrayed and as a viewer you almost literally fly along. After that, the film does not really hit the viewer well, while it should, given the facts. Visually everything looks good. The acting could be better. 3.5

Reconstruction of the capital mistake of RAF pilots during a bombing raid on Copenhagen, just before the end of the Second World War. Director Bornedal takes the time to introduce the characters involved in that catastrophe. In this way he slowly builds the tension towards the disastrous end. I felt afterwards that the film was not quite finished. That does not alter the fact that the final scene with the little Ella Josephine Lund Nilsson is one to be framed.

Above average Danish war film about the true attack of the RAF on the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen in 1945. Everything went wrong, resulting in many civilian casualties, especially children. The film is quite gloomy and grim in tone, something that will not appeal to everyone, but the sympathetic characters and the beautiful design ultimately make it something special.
