BB #14

The fourteenth film already, and a real lead role for BB – with some help from husband Vadim, who rewrote the script on the condition that his girl get the role. Quite literally a role tailor-made for her, then. And apparently Vadim had a good idea of where BB's strengths lay, because she comes across well – although the dance scenes do wobble a bit.

But that doesn't matter for this kind of zany slapstick, and BB is convincing—not so much as a vixen anymore, but as a fairly innocent yet very fun and cute girl. For her career, this film might actually have been more important than the much better-known EDCLF. It did better at the box office, just to drop that in.

Something else that makes me feel very positive about this film is the occasionally Tati-esque soundtrack. Perhaps that was just in fashion at the time, but the association is clear.
