The Past as Future plot

For the first time in history, more people live in the city than in the countryside. Industrialization and centralization of our food production make it possible for many people to do something other than grow food. This documentary shows the life of sheep herder Stijn who has chosen a life outside society. He has been passionately herding sheep in the Netherlands for 15 years. The food system as he sees it is wasteful, disrespectful to animals and all about making a profit in the short term. Stijn is happy as a sheep herder. "Back to basics, with just your sheep eating what the earth has to offer, what more could you want?"
