Pretty lame movie.

I do find Jobs fascinating as a person, but not because of his effective arrangements. But for the way in which he has put Apple back on the map (spicy detail, with the help of Gates). The cult that he has built around his company is fascinating, unfortunately the outcome is less positive.

In this film you mainly see the key moments from his starting career. With a number of bold moments and guiding quotes, the character of Jobs is explained fairly quickly. At least, the well-known character of the hard genius. The man who pushes his will to everyone in a hard way and with that comes up with ingenious devices. In the meantime, it has also become clear that Jobs knew more facets than just being the idealist.

The film itself is also worth little. The comparison with The Social Network is often made, but where that film could rely on good direction, this is not the case here. Faintly portrayed, thick musical accompaniment and extremely linear, with a few strong cavorts through time.

Acting was still okay, but the film doesn't want to get interesting anywhere and Jobs himself never gets any humanity. It is a film that mainly expands myth, something that Jobs no longer really needs. The subject itself still fascinates me, that and the reasonable acting made this film worth sitting out. But there is nothing more.

1.5*

This one was on TV and watched. I didn't think it was a bad movie and worth watching. Despite the fact that the main character is not that sympathetic, you still keep looking captivated. Convincingly acted and the cast also resembled the real people. Other than that, the movie looked great. Despite the long playing time, it was not a long sit.

I watched the film once, but don't have to see it again, one viewing is enough.

This movie is worth watching but only for silly entertainment and not if you really want to know anything about Steve Jobs. Then you should watch that other Jobs movie, plus another documentary or two — and then draw your own conclusion.

This film is almost more about Apple's rise and near-fall than about the man behind it. And what we get from being Steve Jobs are things that happen to align with that angle.

I have nothing for or against Steve Jobs, but I do have something against the moronic Apple mania and the retarded cult and personal worship that has surrounded him since the iPhone. That's what I mainly know him for. In that sense, it's also quite strange to make a biopic that stops far before the iPhone. But apparently he was also revolutionary long before the mobile era - although I think making PCs accessible to everyone is also a credit to Gates and Microsoft. Apple has always been a niche product in the 90s and beyond, I've never seen them as a market leader.

Anyway - quite captivating. Nice 70s atmosphere. Ashton Kutcher who dares to do something that according to fanboys you can never do well.
