It doesn't get many points here or on IMBD. Horror, especially from Australia, isn't usually a high-flyer, but this one definitely worked for me. I thought it was a pretty good film, well-acted too.

Not important, but a lovely song from the opera Rinaldo, which is used in several films, can be heard here twice...

If only every horror were on this level....

A decent horror drama. The story has an original approach and is a mix of drama and horror. The execution is quite successful. The buildup is quite fast-paced but sufficient. The story quickly follows in Tasmania, which is a bit slow, but nevertheless remains captivating until the end. The film leans more towards drama, but it certainly doesn't lack zombie horror, with the zombies being a nice touch compared to what we're used to. The film also features an original twist. Ridley gives a convincing performance. Visually, the film is certainly successful, with a great atmosphere and setting, and good makeup. 3.5

A hit-and-miss horror film about the disastrous consequences of an American military experiment in Tasmania. It's set in an original setting, but the emphasis is clearly on drama, and those aspects of the film aren't particularly captivating. It's solidly directed, and Daisy Ridley is acceptable in the lead role, but the plot and characters develop in directions I'd rather not have seen.
