Seen at least 15 years ago, but it still stood out well in my mind. This is actually a really bad movie. Hasty, boring songs, very weak in content (only with Iago something is still being done) and Robin Williams is really missed as a ghost (it is now a busy owner without humor, so annoying). The animation style is also sometimes very cheap, with thicker lines, less detail and simple backgrounds. But some scenes are quite beautifully drawn. Crazy, like there were two different teams working.

And yet: the film goes very fast, so that you are hardly bored except during the songs. Other than that, the rest of the voice cast has remained the same and are well into their roles and actually it's quite entertaining. Reduced, but still 2.0* for this actual piece of junk.

A typical sequel film in all. This sequel to Aladdin comes two years after the original, but it's clear that they haven't spent much time brooding on a strong story for 'this new adventure'. It has become such an adventure that you can't remember a few days after watching it. All the characters simply repeat what they did two years ago, including - as the title suggests - villain Jafar. The film is again about trust, this time in the form of parrot Iago, again with that characteristic voice of screaming Gilbert Gottfried. A characteristic voice that we do not hear here, however, is that of Robin Williams, for many the highlight of the first film. In his place comes Dan Castellaneta who does much better than I expected (and also played the voice of the ghost for the animated series, which started around this film). With a running time of over an hour, The Return of Jafar is nice and short and therefore easy to get through, but it is certainly not a high-quality film. It feels a bit like a slightly stretched fourth act from the first film, which could have been taped right at the end. Only then an act with less strong animations and a spirit that sounds a bit more like Homer Simpson.

2.5 stars.
