Not quite succeeded in how it tries to translate pop culture references into the droll of 'our heroes'. Still, it's not the misfire I feared. At least it kept the atmosphere and humor of the original album. Unfortunately the animation is way below par and I assume that the planned sequels will be more up to date with the current standard.

Certainly better than the live action film 'the dark diamond' but still not a high-quality suske and wise film, although this is the most expensive Belgian film ever made (9 million) in itself the story is nice, the setting is great and the scenario is certainly not bad with a contemporary look but still enough preservation of the original and also the look is much better suited to the comics. I've seen the Flemish version and the voices were not always that strong: staff coppens as suske didn't really succeed. see eggers as sidonia certainly and lucas van den eynde as lambic now and then too. where the main problem lies in this film is the animation. Not a disaster in itself and certainly a more limited budget than the big animation films but still, the locations and the characters are no better than a regular game from the ps3 and the walking of the characters was the worst. the town and stuff was also very bare while the landscape was beautifully portrayed. because the characters go through the story woodenly, it is not really a smooth film, although there are nice twists to well-known films and actors.

although you can see the twists coming from afar and sometimes you look more at an old ps3 game, the feel good, the fun twists and the nostalgia for the comics that have indeed been transferred to the silver screen, the texas rascals make a decent trip through the vandersteen universe and already a step ahead on the dark diamond. I expected more from it

On the one hand, the animation film by Suske & Wiske about the Texas rascals comes across as nice, but on the other hand it is also very acted. The film does not resemble the 1959 comic at all as Sidonia had not traveled to Dump City and Professor Barabas and the dog Tobias were not even in it at all.

It turned out that the huge boulder that threatened Dump City was also missing and also the Teddy Boys (brutal teenagers who had no future in the city, were deceived by Jim Parasijt and later turned against him), although Miss Messes did appear in it. Suske, Wiske, Lambik, Jerom and Theofiel Boomerang tried to make the story more comical, although I don't know how the scaled-down Rangers could be bottled.

What was also not told is how Sheriff Cooper (who actually turned out to be Jim Parasijt and in the film was in a kind of robot body) went astray, although I assume that discovering the Indian magic powder made him power hungry. As a “disabled” and barely motivated law enforcement officer in the film, he came across as almost more laughable and pathetic, but he was actually much smaller and stockier than in the comic.

Sometimes Cooper was also called Boonsteak, and his gang of thugs consisted more of stupid thugs who hardly seemed really dangerous. I nevertheless hope that the following films about Suske & Wiske, such as the Bokkerijders, will be made a little more realistic.
