I never watch short films, but Cat Soup had my interest for a long time. It is a pity that it is not allowed on the site, also a pity that it does not last longer at all.

Every time you think 'now it's getting less', Nekojiru-sou comes up with another great original idea like the water elephant and the unzipped pig.

Very nice drawing style and camera angles, wonderfully crazy, beautifully surreal, atmospheric and sometimes hilariously funny. Great shorts.

4.5* I think.

You can describe this as crazy. To be honest, I can't really unravel the plot without reading the synopsis. Very playful and enthusiastic animation film as other Japanese animation films are fond of, a subgenre in itself. Absurd and surprising also with colorful images and imaginative and flashy images.

Not 100% my thing, but definitely enjoyed it. Surreal in which the chopped up body parts float around. Cool for once!

And so finally (again) on MM.

Would like to review it again. It's a pity that there is still no HD version (and from reading this the chance that one will come is fairly small, no sufficient quality source material), but the film also manages to hold its own without it.

A mix of anime, but a bit more surreal, which makes it somewhat similar to European animation. That is probably why the film has also gained fame outside the anime world, and has also gained a name among the more cinephile communities. Rightly so, because although the premise is fairly simple, the film itself is not exactly that.

The animation is high-quality (but not overly complex), the soundtrack is appropriate and well used, but it is mainly the creativity and pacing that make this film a special experience. On the one hand it is a pity that there are not more films that dare to take on this kind of crossover, on the other hand the film is still very unique.

4.0* and a extensive review
