Guizi Lai Le plot
In a small Chinese farming village largely ignored by the Japanese invasion in the 1930s, farmer Ma Dasan's routine is disrupted when two Japanese prisoners of war are dropped on his doorstep in the middle of the night. A mysterious figure who introduces himself as "I" orders Ma to look after the prisoners for a few days, until the Chinese resistance pick them up again. The prisoners, a fanatic Japanese soldier and his interpreter, are subjected to a chaotic interrogation by the stupid villagers, who suddenly feel very important because of this task. However, when, months later, no one has come to collect the prisoners and the situation becomes more dangerous, the villagers become nervous. After a clumsy attempt at the execution of the prisoners, it is decided to give them back to the Japanese in exchange for some sacks of grain. However, the paranoid commander of the Japanese forces does not trust the unusual offer, which has disastrous consequences...
