When an artifact called the "Kingdom Treasure Stamp" is stolen, Tōshirō Hitsugaya is sent out to retrieve it. However, Hitsugaya disappears after a fight with the thieves, leading Seiretei to suspect him of treason. The warrant for his capture and execution is issued. Refusing to believe that Tōshirō Hitsugaya is capable of such a crime, Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Rangiku Matsumoto, and Ranji Abarai go in search of him to clear his name. Meanwhile, Hitsugaya is still searching for the thieves and accidentally stumbles upon a dark secret surrounding a shinigami believed to be dead, a man named Kusaka Sōjirō. He was a close friend and rival of Tōshirō Hitsugaya when they were young.
