Dôjôji plot

An elderly monk and his young, enthusiastic acolyte travel along a road full of pilgrims to a famous temple. As evening approaches, they find shelter with a young widow; she falls passionately in love with the young man. He can only resist her charms by lying and saying that he will return after the pilgrimage. However, the widow sees through his words and during a frantic chase she turns into a giant snake, the symbol of jealousy, which can trample on any obstacle.
