It's the little things that matter. The viewer knows through the small hints how the story will end, hints that are also noticeable for Filip Mosz, but which he waves away with a kind of resilience or does not want to see. It is that resilience, that 'opportunity of a lifetime to really make something of his life', that is not appreciated by everyone.

The script is enhanced by the natural acting of the entire cast. Is there actually any acting? Or are we seeing ordinary people here? 'The lives of ordinary people are interesting for a documentary', according to the advice Mosz receives for his 'camera work'. The extremely strong ending says enough about that.

Intriguing film. I'm also curious about Kieslowski's early(er) work. Big 4 stars for Amator.

It's funny that lead actor Stuhr has also become a director and (as Kappeuter already said) was also able to adapt a script by Kieslowski himself.

You can have a hobby, but you can also completely lose yourself in an obsession. The poor man doesn't know what to do anymore when his wife reacts increasingly angry and even becomes hysterical. Little does he know that she is jealous of his devilish camera, which he treats with more care and love than his own wife and family. A funny - and hardly recommended moment - when our Filip tries to place his wife - in the middle of a marital quarrel - in a film image by forming a square with his fingers. Not his best move...

The film style is gray. Close to the skin too. In that respect, parallels can be drawn between Filip and Kieslowski. Always nice to see fiction intertwined with reality. I thought his trilogy was stronger, but this one is also satisfactory.

Natural acting that sometimes gives you the feeling of watching a documentary. Fine!
