Allah N'est Pas Obligé plot

When ten-year-old Birahima's mother dies, he leaves his native village in Guinea, accompanied by the sorcerer and cook Yacouba, to search for his aunt Mahan. As they cross the border into Liberia, they are captured by rebels and forced into military service. Birahima becomes a child soldier. Fighting alongside many other boys in a chaotic civil war, Birahima faces death, torture, mutilation, and madness, yet somehow manages to maintain his sanity.
