Curiouser and curiouser..

Wonderful film adaptation of the famous nonsense story Alice in Wonderland. As we are used to from old Disney cartoons, the colors pop off the screen, the use and combination of colors has again been well thought out.

An accumulation of the most charming scenes: Alice crawling down the rabbit hole, falling several meters down there (look at her blue dress that opens like a parachute!), reading a book on the way quickly and seeing herself rising upside down in a mirror , the hazy blue caterpillar who slurps on a water pipe whose incoherent comments make everything more muddled, the talking flowers, the pink-striped Cheshire-Cat who opens the entrance to the maze by using a branch of a tree as a lever, the living playing cards that the roses painting red, the dramatic announcement of the White Widow and finally that hysterical trial...

Oops! Of course I meant The Red Queen.. Sorry!

A Disney classic I'd never seen as a kid, but I doubt I'd have liked it back then. Alice in Wonderland is one of those stories that if you've never seen it, millions of references in other media over the years make sure you know the story. I've seen other animations that told the story of unknown studios that were actually more fun.

Alice is an annoying, mouthy snob who meows way too often. The sound is not really good anyway, so she quickly started to dislike me. The animation and use of color is quite good luckily.

The fantasy world could have been a little crazier in my opinion. It just didn't grab me, nor did most of the characters. Such a cheshire cat is still funny because he still has something evil about him. The rest of the characters were mostly too busy. In addition, the songs did not sound for a meter after which you quickly fantasize how fantastic it would have been if a number of sharply sharpened spears had stood straight up at the bottom of the rabbit hole.
