I know this classic from my childhood and have seen it several times. It is an über-romantic drama film about two children who have to survive on a desert island and eventually fall in love with each other. Cinematography: purely outdoor scenes on a tropical island in the middle of nowhere. Music: romantic and melodramatic. Cast: The very young Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins play their roles quite well.

Plot: After a shipwreck, the two children Emmeline and Richard arrive with the cook Paddy on a seemingly uninhabited island. They learn to survive by using the island's natural resources. In the end, Paddy dies, leaving Emmy and Richard behind. They grow up and fall in love with each other. There are also still dangers on the island (natives and poisonous berries).

The film does have some clichés. Still, there are a number of scenes that have stayed with me. And of course it is a very beautiful love story. The end of the film is open and leaves room for a sequel...... And there is. I want to check it out again for the shape. And I would also like to see the predecessor from 1949.....

Very mediocre movie actually. The Blue Lagoon is just a simple romance. Nice environment though, but I expected and can't understand that that native tribe or whatever it was never came to that part of the island in all these years. That would undoubtedly have made the movie more engaging created. Now nothing significant happens in the entire movie. You just can't call this good. Brooke Shields is fortunately still a handsome appearance to look at, that's almost the only plus I can think of. 1.5*

Oh, it's been so long already. I well remember what an impression this film made at the time when it was broadcast on TV - no doubt by Veronica. Almost naked people on TV, and then before midnight too, unheard of. But did a quick search because I saw a really horribly bad movie with Brooke Shields on Netflix - just as a contrast, so to speak.

And somehow the film apparently made such an impression on me at the time that it left me with a soft spot for Brooke Shields. Maybe not the best actress ever, but I've always liked to see her - although I can hardly remember a movie she played in. That series Suddenly Susan does, but I don't remember that much anymore. Just that I liked to watch it on Sunday evening, end of the weekend, tomorrow back into the grind - something like that. Not very exciting, but fun to watch.

Just like with this film, because during the review it all turns out to be quite well-behaved and childish. Nice pictures of a beautiful island and clear blue skies, and Brooke's bushy hair that helps everything neatly through the film rating. It's hard to understand why anything was found at the time.

Out of sentiment then only 3*, not really because of the merits of the film itself.
