As my predecessor said, it's hard to take zombies seriously, so when a serious movie about zombies is made I'll scratch my head. But indeed, as a story about an epidemic in which the victims then "accidentally" become zombies, I think this is very successful, with hard action scenes, impressive FX (in the beginning, but also in Jerusalem), well directed, a fine Pitt and always a sometimes quite suffocating smoke of inevitability.

In my opinion the first zombie movie in which zombies attack the 'living' apparently organized,

especially in Jerusalem. See also later Busanhaeng. And faster than ever. With those slow zombies

we've had it from the past, which often made me laugh too.

It is perhaps unbelievable that Pitt always manages to escape the dance with great luck, but

especially in this genre you like to take that for granted.

I thought it was smart that the film is set in several places around the world, with the result

varied locations and furthermore the impression of a worldwide epidemic. What for me several

memorable scenes, which are the most spectacular in Jerusalem, even if it is allowed at the beginning

from the movie of impending doom.

The last part in the hospital is perhaps the most exciting. Not very explosive, but still

more claustrophobic than the scene on the plane. Apparently on the advice of Brad Pitt, who

This even got into a discussion with the director, who actually wanted to go against it again in that last part. The idea for the film was in fact also a project by Pitt, who had been peddling with it for years at film companies, I once read somewhere.

Anyway, I thought it was the right decision. Another spectacular zombie attack was

maybe just a little too much of a good thing. That last part may even refer to

a bit like the very first well-known zombie film: The Night Of The Living Dead, by Romero: The threat of zombies in a confined space, even though it was of course not nearly so limited in that hospital.

Anyway, for me this was the most successful zombie movie, and the most terrifying, for

as far as a movie still terrifies me, and I may have even more fear of an imminent sequel: Because how to match this?

A movie about a virus outbreak that culminates in a true world war with Brad Pitt as the rescue angel! Hurrah! The virus is rabies (which eventually develops into something even worse), it originated in Taiwan and it destroys cities like only Godzilla could before. Expect hordes of rabid zombies and a fast pace meant to disguise the simplicity of the scenario. There are small supporting roles for Peter Capaldi (as WHO Doctor (!)) and David Morse, but this is genuine Saturday night pulp to fall asleep to.
