The Kentucky Derby plot
"NOW FOR THE BIG EVENT!"
Moncrief Gordon bets $10,000 with his neighbor Rome Woolrich that his horse, when mature, can beat Woolrich's thoroughbred stallion Twilight. Donald, Moncrief's son, incurs his father's wrath when he marries Alice Brown, the groomsman's daughter. Donald is sent away from home and goes to New York. There he is kidnapped and forced to work on a ship for three years. In the meantime, money is stolen from his father and Ralph, the perpetrator, tries to put the blame on Donald. In addition, Ralph also plans to make sure that the race between the two horses turns out in Twilight's favor, even if it requires a kill.
