By now I'm starting to develop quite a crush on Emma Stone, and with that I immediately mentioned the only positive point about this film. I've never really been able to identify with this comic book hero, but this time the action is barely exciting either, when the villains are totally uninteresting (that mini-Leonardo DiCaprio as milkmouth Harry!) and several excellent actors are wasted (Jamie Foxx can hardly show that he can act during his crackling Electro appearance, I didn't even recognize Paul Giamatti and Marton Csokas, and only Chris Cooper really impresses) All that remains is the excellent FX. As with part 1 of this series, I wonder why this series had to be continued after the great Toby Maguire, and now there is also a second reboot in sight... *sigh*

This one was kind of known to me as the ending of the Amazing Spider-Man movie series, so I wasn't expecting much from it. I am positively surprised. Andrew Garfield is to me the most successful Peter Parker on screen and the best Spider-man by far. Humor, smart, nimble; it's all just a bit more than with Maguire's version. The bad guys get a lot of criticism I see, and although the ending of Electro was a bit sudden and over the top, I think all the bad guys are into it for a reason and were rightfully pissed off.

A number of things I found vague, and that is again that indecision of Peter Parker, which we also saw in Spider-man 2. I like Garfield better, because he seems a bit more absent-minded in character anyway.

All in all I thought this was perhaps the best Spider-man movie since the very first one from 2004. It's a shame that the reset button has been pressed again; I would have loved to see part 3 of this Amazing series.

After part 1 got a lot better after rewatching, it was time to watch part two. And oh oh oh what a great superhero movie this turns out to be!

The first half hour alone is a perfect translation from comic book to film. The rhythm, the speed, the visual, the soundtrack, the acting of Garfield & Stone, everything is just right.

In any case, the two aforementioned protagonists have a very nice chemistry and good interplay, which gave the previous part added value and again that little bit extra that is often missing in superhero films.

The first fight with Elektro is also a huge party, Webb shows with these films that he can really capture action. And that continues throughout the film.

Enjoy this.

And the most unfortunate thing is that Sony did not dare to continue with this and gives up the character to Marvel. Because after films like X-Men First Class and this Spider-Man, it is once again clear that the best superhero films come from Sony and not from Marvel itself or DC.
