Turtle power!

Although this second part is also not a very good film, it is all very entertaining. The first part turned out to be a big surprise. Unfortunately, this second part is a bit less good. The characters so loved by such a large audience are not very well developed. Shredder is barely featured in Out of the Shadows. And also Krang could have been developed a little better, although he is certainly a good addition to this world. Too bad Jones is portrayed like this. Very weak for such a cool character. Well, we finally get Bebop and Rocksteady here. Both do not disappoint.

The action looks good, but feels less "grand". The first part had more big set pieces throughout the movie. That is also considerably less in Out of the Shadows. There are some nice scenes in it, but they are just way too short to really make an impact. In terms of visuals very nice and the sound is very nicely designed, just like in the first part, with the freeway chase as the pinnacle. The effects from the ILM stable also look very good.

This could have been so much more than it is now. Nevertheless, this has turned out to be a nice mess.

Okay, it's done. There may still be animated series and the comics may go on for longer, but let Michael Bay fuck off with his claws from the Turtles. At first I saw Baxter Stockmann, Bebop and Rocksteady and Casey Jones in the trailer and I really thought it could turn into something else, but the movie took everything tolerable about the first movie down and farted even further on a fantastic concept. Oh well, Krang looked great and was nicely voiced, but Bebop and Rocksteady are boring, nothing is done with Stockmann, Shredder has even less to do and the somewhat charming scenes in the first movie between the Turtles are completely absent here. Stephen Amell (better here than in Arrow, I continue to hate that series as a Green Arrow fan) really enjoys it and is therefore endearing, but it just doesn't work as a whole. The Turtles are annoying, April O'Neill is still being portrayed dramatically and even Will Arnett can't make it. Cut down now, it's really over.

broke.

I know very little about part 1 except that the new Turtles looked unsightly and that they were also unbearable. Apparently not much has changed, because this second part also has four completely irritating main characters.

The humor in particular is unbearable. Very annoying, very in your face, all very childish. In addition to The Turtles themselves, you have a whole closet of side characters, none of them really come out well, none are well portrayed. Poor acting everywhere, so it's certainly not just the CG.

The story is of course not much, the action is on the bland side, the only nice thing is the fluorescent tinge that the film gets. Not that it immediately looks nice, but it does give the film something fresh.

110 minutes is way too long for a movie like this, stick to 90 minutes and just make sure it all looks a bit more spectacular than it did now. Another one to quickly forget, but that was part 1 of course.

1.5*
