Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot plot

"She did the laundry and washed the dishes. Now she's cleaning up the streets."

He has been foisting off his mother by phone for years, because it would be a disaster with her in the house. She was going to clean up and bring regularity and baby photos into his life and he can't use that, because he's a policeman. This year, however, she's coming without notice, and he just hopes it's temporary. Unfortunately, she becomes involved in a case of arms transaction, murder and insurance fraud, and she has to stay in town by the female lieutenant, who is also the cop's casual relationship.

Especially in the first half of the film it remains very bland, with a number of jokes that are just a little too much milked for me (Tutti who shows up about 3/4 times Joe's childhood photos). The second film is a bit more serious, roughly from the part where Tutti and Gwen have to shed a tear together. This part can actually be enjoyed, with some cool action scenes (the wrecking ball scene and the plane meets truck scene. I also think it's cool that Tutti finally shoots the badguy[/ spoiler] and the way she does this is highly done.
The joke at the end is very bland and that is actually a bit of what this film here and there a little bit. The humor is sometimes so bland that I can't laugh at it and that's a shame.
But he's still pretty easy to look at (doesn't take that long either) and the last half makes you want to keep watching him.
Not reserved for fans of the "tough Stallone films", because this is something completely different.

A sketchy, $45 million farce where Stallone lets himself be belittled by an overprotective matriarch? Bring it on! Surely this can't be as bad as the haters claim, the snobs who voted this into the flop 100 are probably having wet dreams of Frank Darabont.

O cruel irony! Believe the infamy, this movie is painfully unpleasant. To begin with, the mother is much too sweet, at most a bit nosy. I expected a cross of Irene Ryan and Mother Bates. In addition, it is almost touching to see Stallone struggling with comic timing and delivery, a desperate attempt to prove that he can be the star of an Ivan Reitman production like arch-rival Schwarzenegger.

By the way, clever Arnie had spread a rumor that he was very interested in this film, after which naive benefactor Stallone jumped on it blindly, hoping to beat his competitor. If you look at it that way, the movie is still hilarious.

Mediocre film about a policeman who receives a visit from his nosy mother. The casting of Sylvester Stallone and Estelle Getty is fun and the interaction between the two is also quite entertaining. However, it is all rather quickly repetitive and for a comedy there is too little to laugh about. The underlying plot is barely captivating. It can't be called good, but it's not really bad either.
