Not too strong.

Anyone expecting a highly colorful and stylized racing film with some crime elements based on the poster featuring colored cars will be disappointed. This film has become a fairly standard affair that thrives on the concept of imitation. A film like The Fast and the Furious isn't far off in this respect.

Rev is a very simple film, and its story is told in this way. It's essentially just a boy who, at the behest of the police, hangs out with some criminals, and we've seen similar concepts before. One film incorporates sports, another horses, and this film adds cars to liven things up a bit. And there are some really nice cars in it.

I'm not here to judge films on how beautiful their cars are, but on whether they're even remotely watchable. Rev is a very watchable film in that regard, and rarely bores. The pace is relatively fast, despite the fact that what you see isn't particularly original anymore. This film offers no surprises and keeps adding more and more clichés, which doesn't exactly make it any better or worse overall.

The action scenes are disappointing, and the cinematography doesn't look quite sunny enough. It could all have been much fresher. Take the colorful poster, for example; if the film had featured those kinds of scenes, I would have thoroughly enjoyed it, but of course, those posters are only there to attract viewers, only to disappoint them again.

It's an entertaining film that doesn't drag on for long and features decent acting. Unfortunately, that's where it ends, because it's too safe and takes no risks whatsoever. It lacks audacity entirely, and the director simply never pushes the boundaries. That prevents Rev from being a good action film, which is a shame. Otherwise, it's okay.

Sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice.

If I was better off keeping my day job.

I'd be home right now playing video games instead of living in one.

At least then I'd be able to turn it off.

Straight out of the auto theft industry's handbook. Anyone who wants to know how to best execute grand theft auto, carjacking, homejacking, and all the other branches of the business should watch Rev (Fast & Furious: African Drift would have easily been a good choice) and take notes. It's a kind of B-movie cross between The Wolf of Wall Street and The Fast & The Furious. The story is decent, if a bit overdone, and the acting and cinematography are very mediocre.

Still some great music, and if there's ever a movie about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alex Loubert (playing Sammy here) is your man. Oh, and for fans of scantily clad playwrights, there's something for everyone. It's amazing how they always get involved in so many shady practices. Or is that mainly the case in movies?
