"Rise up."
Several years after the events of the first film, the Jaeger program has fallen prey to corruption and the weapons of mass destruction have fallen into the wrong hands. The Gipsy Avenger machine is an example of this. His ancestor has been turned into a nuclear warhead and it seems Gipsy Avenger is honoring that legacy. Clearing Tokyo is no problem. After all, the more than 9 million inhabitants can simply go to the air raid shelters and also have enough time to do so when the Japanese capital threatens to be overrun by a new generation of Kaiju. Fortunately, because that gives the 'heroes' in this film a license to mercilessly destroy the city - and not by accident!
The most stupid SF action movie I've ever seen in theaters, with a crappy story, hilariously bad dialogue, totally botched jokes, weak directing, cardboard characters and abysmal acting. The only recommendation is that this movie is so showy in its wickedness that there is plenty to laugh about. I say, "Cambot, Gypsy, Tom Servo, Croooow! Do your thing!

Changes have been taking place in Hollywood for some time now. Ghostbusters, Wonder Woman, Black Panther etc. etc. In short, more girl power and more black power. I like it all! Only Ghostbusters with women should never have been made! Because as soon as a film does it very pedantic/school-mastery, I don't need it! Last seen Annihilation and it's someone said it because I didn't even notice. The expedition in the film consists of only women. Look, and that's how you do it!
Pacific Rim 2 also tries to get it smart with John Boyega. I find him just like my upstairs neighbor unfortunately also intolerable! As good as I think Idris Elba in part 1, as bad I think John Boyega in part 2.
I'll keep it short by the way. PR: You have its moments, but in general it is really a poor imitation of part 1.
