This sequel to “D'Artagnan” doesn't bring much new except that Mylady not only puts her physical but also her fighting skills into battle. Just like part 1, the film lacks the intriguing atmosphere of Alexander Dumas' classic adventure novel.

Too much talk, too little action in the conclusion of the large-scale film adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' beloved novel. Cardinal Richelieu [Eric Ruf] silences everyone involved in his plan to sideline King Louis XIII [Louis Garrell]. Also his master spy “Milady” De Winter [Eva Green], who is now an ally of D'Artagnan [François Civil], whose lover Constance [Lyna Khoudri] has been kidnapped by Richelieu's henchmen. Milady can help D'Artagnan find Constance in exchange for physical protection. We learn more about what happened to Athos' son [Vincent Cassel] and the identity of the mother and the king takes steps to provide an heir, but there is less coherence and sporadic action . The last half hour contains a phenomenal duel, until then Bourboulon will really test your patience.
