Wonka plot

This is an ideal film for the Christmas period!!
Charlie and the chocolate factory is and remains a childhood film for me.
So when they announced that this was coming out, I had my doubts.
Especially because there has been a long time in between & the story takes place before the current film.
But I am really positively surprised 
Very nice and relaxing movie.
Timothée Chalamet does this very well. (look forward to seeing him again next year for Dune 2) 
& Hugh Grant as Oompa-Loompa is amazing!!!
Ideal film for young & not so young 
I think this will be the film of this Christmas & the last film month of this year!!

I didn't expect the film to be so successful, but King is just very good at it. It has the same balance of humour, warmth and magic as Paddington. Songs are nice too and Timothee is excellent.

Roald Dahl had nothing to do with this joyless prequel to 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' in which we discover how Willy Wonka [Timothée Chalamet] managed to build a chocolate factory and make it a success. Hugh Grant shows up after an hour for a few scenes as the Oompa-Loompa with whom Wonka still has a score to settle. The director of both Paddington films once again managed to enlist a selection of British veterans for the supporting roles, but they are saddled with a script that has none of Dahl's biting, dark humor. Chalamet does a decent job, but thanks to the colorless songs and the choice of CGI, there is very little to enjoy. Better watch Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971) with Gene Wilder again.
