Don't understand the negative reviews.

Much better for me than the fairy tale version of Guillermo del Toro.

Thought Hellboy would be impossible without Ron Perlman, but David Harbor is doing just as well.

Even the still gorgeous Milla Jovovich as 'The Blood Queen' didn't miscast.

Finally also a 16 plus version so that the blood can happily splash around and you can swear fun one-liners.

Wonderfully rude nonsense that I think fits better with the comics and great entertainment.

Because of the reasonable first and fine second part of the Guillermo del Toro-Hellboy films with Ron Perlman I was not convinced beforehand of the necessity of this reboot, but thanks to the portrayal of David Harbor who heart and soul (and body and fatsuit) into battle, this "third" part is ultimately very worthwhile. Harbor plays his character a bit more aggressively contrarian and gets good counterplay from Daniel Dae Kim, there are several nice apocalyptic or comic monsters in it, and there are more than enough loose body parts flying around the viewer's ears, so with the visual side it's okay good. Unfortunately, Milla Jovovich isn't particularly impressive, neither in her playing nor in her design, which sadly makes the climactic showdown between Hellboy and Nimue quite "underwhelming". As a result, this is not a real classic, while the character and the portrayal of David Harbor are strong enough for that, as witnessed by the impact of the scene halfway through the film in which he has an argument with his "father". Unfortunately.
