Meh.

Lots of noise, but not very impressive. That's what I thought about this series 10 years ago, and I still do. I didn't like seeing all the previous parts, so I just started with this one as 'preparation' for number 7, which I still considered seeing in the cinema.
The quick summary in the beginning as a refresher is useful, but then it quickly goes to what it is all about: tough talk, sweet drama, forced jokes, idiotically pimped cars and endless chases. This for two hours. Of course it gets boring quickly this way.

The cast is also way too big. Everyone should be able to do/show their thing and then you quickly get a succession of 'hip/ tough/ witty' scenes, but it's really cringe-inducing the way it is presented here. It was therefore looking forward to the villain on duty, Luke Evans, not a bad actor after all, but the best man does not bake too much. Against the Vin Diesels and Dwayne Johnsons of this world you need something more.

As mentioned, the action scenes are very mediocre. I find a car chase like the one in Drive exciting: 'slow', with some sense of reality. Less is more. This sequence doesn't really seem to revolve around suspense – as much as possible – not even during those scenes. They add a tank (at the end even a plane?) and a solid portion of CGI is also present. I don't like it. An explosion without a bang. Or vice versa, because the noise is there.

Almost there!

Started watching once because James Wan was also going to direct a part, and Wan is a director I like to see in action. But you have to pass 6 F&F films first. Fortunately, the series is not that bad, even then I did not immediately expect that this would be a positive outlier.

It's not so much the storylines of previous films that come together here. I can't wait for that sort of thing. Well worth the effort are the action scenes, which are really top of class for the first time. The finale in particular is a piece of crazy adrenaline that you rarely get to see. Please more of that.

There are also plenty of beautiful action scenes and the cast feels well at home in their characters. It is ultimately not much more than a smooth action film, but it is precisely in this that this film shows what it has to offer. On to part seven then, Wan will do his best to honor this series.

Already the sixth part of the successful Fast & Furious series, which started in 2001 as an action film that mainly relied on tightly edited car chases. Since the fourth part, the racing element has increasingly been replaced by bombastic action scenes. For some it will be a turn off, but given the success of the series, most fans will certainly appreciate this new direction.

Virtually the entire cast from the previous film returns in this sixth film. The character Letty from movies one and four also returns from the dead.

As with the previous films, this sixth installment doesn't have the logic, the strong story, or the compelling characters. The story of this sixth part is one of the weakest in the series and the plot twists are often hilarious. Yet this sixth part is certainly not the least in the series. The lack of logic is more than compensated for by spectacular action. Fast & Furious 6 is a typical film where you have to put your mind to zero and especially enjoy the often clunky action.
