'Faster' tells the story of Driver (Dwayne Johnson), a man who has just been released after serving years in prison. He was incarcerated for being framed during a bank robbery. His brother was also murdered. Now Driver only wants one thing; avenge his brother.

Little original revenge movie. Just one of many. Fairly raw and with good action. The plot is already clear very quickly. As a result, all the so-called "twist-revealing" scenes feel a bit like mustard after the meal, which also doesn't help the tension. More Faster is besides that a fine standard action movie.

A very entertaining film, that for me personally most of the playing time headed for a nice 3.5*. I didn't like the last ten minutes at all. Such a typical stupid twist, but oh well. However, the 90 minutes before that are quite entertaining. The pace is super fast and many different games are played on the chessboard, but it all works well. I found the hyper-fast camera use disturbing in the beginning, but luckily I got used to it. The biggest plus is the good cast (Billy Bob Thornton!) and a somewhat atypical and therefore somewhat more interesting role for The Rock and the fact that you have sympathy for all three parties, until roughly the last fifteen minutes. It could very easily have been black and white, but it's refreshingly not that at all. Shame about the ending, but otherwise nothing wrong with this. 3*.

Faster is a so-called revenge film in the vein of Death Wish. Although she can't reach that level anywhere. The story is simply not interesting enough for that and the pace too slow. The film hardly did well in the cinemas and was received lukewarm by the press.
Former wrestler Dwayne Johnson returned to the action genre after six years, having previously appeared primarily in comedies or family films. For his role as Driver, he also went back to the gym and again built the necessary muscles. Despite his limited monologues, he does a pretty decent job in this movie. He gets good counterplay from Billy Bob Thornton as a worn-out and drug-addicted cop.
Although they are all a bit clichéd, it still seems to work surprisingly. The only one that stands out a bit is British Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who plays a wealthy yuppie with a curious hobby, that of a hit man.
Faster isn't an overly sensational action movie, but it's still entertaining enough for an hour and a half of entertainment.
