I recently saw Die Hard again. What makes this film so good is that the action is simply realistic and certainly believable. Even pretty much the entire Marvel franchise is believable, at least within the laws of that universe. After 5 minutes in this film a car is already flying over the roofs in ugly CGI. Then you'll quickly lose me. Then Vaughn can always put some nice music to it (that gets boring quickly) and film elegantly, but the action itself is a bit salty and often unbelievable. Just like the plot that bounces from twist to twist and with each twist you mainly think: ah, now they have come up with this. Not a moment that surprises them. And then this thing lasts another 140 minutes. Although the pacing is still okay and Rockwell and especially Howard (and especially when she plays the somewhat dorky writer, in the ending as a spy I find her a lot less convincing) playing with great pleasure and conviction and still managing to keep your attention, this thing is quite a piece of junk. 2.0*.

Why are the reviews so bad? I really loved him. Story was really fun, maybe a bit difficult because of all the plot twists but really fun. Action was good, I'm still surprised by the music used during action scenes, but it fit somehow. And jokes that were just good. In short, a good action film that I will definitely watch several times!
