Upgrade Planned To "Tron" V2.0

Disney has hired writers Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal to pen a remake of "Tron," the 1982 film about a computer programmer who gets sucked into the world of a computer program reports today's Variety.

The original movie, written and directed by Steven Lisberger, was considered ahead of its time. Klugman and Sternthal, who just wrote the historical epic "Warrior" for Gavin O'Connor to direct and Icon to produce and are almost finished work on a "Black Cat" script for director Chuck Russell, feel that the world has caught up with Lisberger's original concept, making it ripe for a remake.

"It was remembered not only for story, but a visual style that nobody had ever used before. We are contemporizing it, taking these ideas that were ahead of the curve and applying them to the present, and we feel the film now has a chance to resonate with a young audience." said Klugman.

Sternthal said the new conceit is that the computer programmer gets trapped in a cyberworld, so that the film can utilize the Internet. "In a lot of ways, ('Tron') was a movie about a man venturing into hell. Our job will be to keep the humanity as he ventures into an unreal world."

Wat een jeugdsentiment was dat ! Decleir was gewoon Sinterklaas en die zwarte piet was ook top , net als Peters die je helemaal indommelde in de sfeer.

Shimizu maakt ook The Grudge 2

The Grudge draait hier nog maar net in de bioscopen als Variety meldt dat regisseur Takashi Shimizu ook het vervolg hierop zal regisseren.

Shimizu is inmiddels de man die je moet hebben als je zelf een The Grudge film van de grond wil krijgen, want hij heeft er inmiddels volop ervaring mee: de Japanner schreef en regisseerde in 2000 Ju-On, in datzelfde jaar ook nog Ju-On 2, hij kwam in 2003 zowel met Jo-On: The Grudge als Ju-On: The Grudge 2, maakte in 2004 de Amerikaanse remake The Grudge, wil in 2005 Ju-on: The Grudge 3 uitbrengen en zal nu dus ook het vervolg op de Amerikaanse remake regisseren. Hmm...

Spielberg verfilmt leven president Lincoln.

Het zijn drukke tijden voor regisseur Steven Spielberg. Amper is bekendgemaakt dat hij een nieuwe film over de holocaust gaat draaien (de slachtpartij van Babi Yar), of het vakblad Variety pakt uit met het nieuws dat Hollywoods meest zonnige cineast een bio-pic gaat draaien over Amerika's legendarische 16de president, Abraham Lincoln. In de film over ,,Abe'' zal Spielberg, twaalf jaar na Schindler's List , weer gebruik maken van de diensten van Liam Neeson.

Over ,,Honest Abe'', de president die de VS door de seccessieoorlog (1861-1865) loodste, is al een handvol films gedraaid. Spielberg zou zich concentreren op de burgeroorlog. Met de opnamen wordt begonnen in januari 2006. Dat betekent meteen dat een ander project, Vengeance, op de lange baan wordt geschoven. Die prent zou dan weer de aanslag van Zwarte September op de Olympische Spelen in München van 1972 tot onderwerp hebben.

Momenteel werkt de man die de wereld E.T. en Indiana Jones schonk aan een remake van de sciencefictionklassieker War of the Worlds , met Tom Cruise in de hoofdrol. De opnamen voor deze prent naar het boek van H.G. Wells worden in maart beëindigd. Universal gaf zopas de eerste beelden van de film vrij. (bron HNB)

ALLERZIELEN

een antwoord van de Nederlandse filmwereld op 2 november 2004

Nederlandse filmmakers hebben naar aanleiding van de moord op filmmaker Theo van Gogh het initiatief genomen tot een uniek project. Met vijftien korte films reageert een groot aantal scenarioschrijvers, regisseurs en producenten op de polemiek en opwinding in ons land na 2 november 2004.

De korte films zullen samengevoegd worden tot een compilatiefilm van 90 minuten die onder de titel ALLERZIELEN begin april 2005 in de bioscoop een premièrevoorstelling beleeft. Woensdag 20 april wordt de film door de NPS uitgezonden op Nederland 3.

Het initiatief voor ALLERZIELEN komt van een kleine groep

scenarioschrijvers. Zij wilden niet in de eerste plaats een film over Theo van Gogh zelf maken, maar liever korte, eenvoudige verhalen vertellen vanaf de zijlijn. Geen politieke analyses, geen goedgebekte politici, maar aandacht voor het verdriet, de hoop en de woede van de buurvrouw, de toeschouwer, de trambestuurder. Verhalen aan de rand van de moord.

Spontaan boden zich vele regisseurs en producenten aan. Zij werken allemaal belangeloos aan dit unieke project mee. Zij weten zich hierbij gesteund

het Nederlands Fonds voor de Film, de NPS, het Stimuleringsfonds Nederlandse Culturele Omroepproducties, het CoBO Fonds, Cinema Delicatessen, Lira, het Contractenbureau, het Netwerk Scenarioschrijvers en het Nederlands Film Festival.

TARANTION AND MIIKE JOINT VENTURE?

Apparently Quentin Tarantino and asian Filmaker Takeshi Miike (Audition, Ichi The Killer) met at the Toronto Film Festival, and according to Twitchfilm.com, Tarantino allowed Miike to transform part of his original Kill Bill script into a stage play. The said part of the script was about GoGo Yubari's twin sister, a sequence that was not shot for the final film.

Peter Jackson regisseert The Lovely Bones?

Peter Jackson, de beroemde regisseur van de Lord of the Rings films, gaat door met zijn filmmagie door weer een bestseller te verfilmen. Hij heeft een optie genomen op de rechten van de verfilming van Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones, aldus bronnen.

Gepubliceerd in 2002 vertelt Bones het verhaal van de 14-jarige Susie Salmon, die vanuit de hemel neerkijkt na bruut te zijn verkracht en vermoord door een buurman. Zowel zij als de overgebleven familie worstelen met de realiteit van haar dood en de gevolgen ervan in de toekomst.

"Het is de beste soort fantasy in die zin dat het erg veel zegt over de echte wereld", aldus Jackson. "Je krijgt een ervaring na het lezen van het boek wat anders is dan elke andere. Ik wil niet dat dat gevoel anders wordt of verdwijnt in de film."

Jackson is momenteel bezig met de remake van King Kong met Naomi Watts, met een release gepland eind dit jaar. Hierna zullen hij en Rings-partners Fran Walsh en Philippa Boyens het screenplay aanpassen in Januari 2006, om een release ergens in 2007 te realiseren.

Jackson ontving Oscars voor beste film, regisseur en screenplay voor The Return of the King (2003), wat in totaal 11 Oscars won en meer dan 370 miljoen dollar opbracht in de US box office.

The Demolished Man (2005)

De nieuwe film van Andrew Dominik die zijn debuut maakte met de geniale komedie drama Chopper. Mijn verwachtingen liggen hoog..

Ja dat lijkt me ook wel wat. Chopper was een erg leuke film en er zaten een paar erg sterke cameratrucjes in. De speed scenes bijvoorbeeld.

nieuwe verfilming van beowulf

Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman have joined forces with Steve Bing and Robert Zemeckis to bring the oldest written English language myth, Beowulf, to the big screen through the magic of performance capture. Zemeckis will direct from the screenplay by Avary and Gaiman. The project will be financed by Shangri-La Entertainment, which is currently in discussions with Sony Pictures Entertainment to distribute all of its feature films. The film will be produced by Robert Zemeckis, Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke. Martin Shafer will serve as executive producer along with Avary and Gaiman.

Zemeckis is the acclaimed Academy Award®-winning director of Forrest Gump as well as such major hit films as Castaway, What Lies Beneath, Contact, the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Romancing the Stone and Death Becomes Her.

Avary, who is an actual Viking descendant, won an Academy Award for his collaboration with Quentin Tarantino on Pulp Fiction, and is the writer/director of such acclaimed films as Killing Zoe and The Rules of Attraction. Avary is currently finishing the screenplay adaptation of the hit Konami videogame, Silent Hill, for Producer Samuel Hadida and Tristar Pictures.

Gaiman is the Hugo and Nebula-Award winning author of such novels as American Gods and Coraline, and is best known as the creator of DC Comics' legendary Sandman. He wrote the English Language Script for the Miyazaki film Princess Mononoke. His first feature, MirrorMask, directed by Dave McKean, premieres at the Sundance Film Festival. His short film A Short Film About John Bolton was just released on DVD. Projects in development based on work by Gaiman include Coraline, which Henry Selick is writing and directing, and Stardust, with director Matthew Vaughn. Gaiman is writing and will be directing Death and Me, based on his DC Comics graphic novel Death: The High Cost of Living for New Line Cinema.

Hoofdrol Da Vinci Code voor Audrey Tautou (naast Tom Hanks)

PARIJS (ANP) - De Franse actrice Audrey Tautou - bekend uit Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain en Un long dimanche de fiançailles - gaat de vrouwelijke hoofrol spelen in de verfilming van The Da Vinci Code. Dit heeft de krant Le Parisien zaterdag gemeld.

Tautou speelt de rol van Sophie Neveu, de Franse assistente van professor Robert Langdon. Die probeert via allerlei codes en aanwijzingen een moord in het Louvre op te lossen en komt daarbij op het spoor van de Heilige Graal. Het verhaal is een thriller vol vermeende geheimen over de Rooms-Katholieke kerk.

Het boek The Da Vinci Code, ook vertaald in het Nederlands, staat al meer dan een jaar op de Amerikaanse bestsellerslijsten. In de hele wereld zouden twintig miljoen exemplaren zijn verkocht.

Regisseur van de film is Ron Howard, die beroemd werd met onder meer A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13 en Cocoon. Het is de bedoeling dat de film in mei 2006 in roulatie gaat. Acteur Tom Hanks speelt de rol van professor Langdon.

Mark Wahlberg is in negotiations to join Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon in Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," a Warner Bros. Pictures police thriller remake of the Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story, set in Boston, centers on a gangster (Damon) who infiltrates the police department and a cop (DiCaprio) who infiltrates the gangs at the same time. The two find out that a mole is in each organization and race to find each other's identity. Wahlberg would play a cop who's a key figure in DiCaprio's life. William Monahan ("Kingdom of Heaven") adapted the material.

Brad Pitt als revolverheld Jesse James

Brad Pitt speelt de legendarische revolverheld Jesse James in een nieuwe western. De nog titelloze film wordt geregisseerd door Andrew Dominik, die eerder de culthit 'Chopper' met Eric Bana maakte. De film gaat over het leven van westernheld James en zijn dood, veroorzaakt door bendelid Robert Ford.

Pitts productiebedrijf Plan B, dat hij samen met zijn ex-partner Jennifer Aniston oprichtte, verwierf vorig jaar samen met de productiemaatschappij van de broers Ridley en Tony Scott de filmrechten van Robert Hansens boek 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'.

Volgens Hansen was James een 'charismatische en bijgelovige' man, die zijn bende met 'harde hand' leidde. Ford, een jong lid van James' bende, vond Jesse geen goede leider en schoot hem in koelen bloede dood. Welke acteur de rol van Ford zal spelen is nog onbekend.

Deze zomer is Pitt naast Angelina Jolie te zien in de thriller ' Mr. and Mrs. Smith'. Boze tongen beweren dat de samenwerking met Jolie een van de redenen zou zijn dat Pitt en Aniston uit elkaar zijn.

De verfilming van 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford' verschijnt volgend jaar in de bioscopen.

Hideo Nakata klaar voor Ring 3

Hideo Nakata werkt momenteel aan The Ring Two (release 17 maart) en liet in een interview weten dat het einde daarvan ruimte laat voor nog een vervolg. De regisseur liet ook weten een derde deel graag te willen regisseren.

Voordat hij zich aan de tweede Amerikaanse remake waagde (de eerste werd geregisseerd door Gore Verbinski), maakte Hideo Nakata al de Japanse originelen Ringu en Ringu 2.

Tapert Talks "Evil Dead" Remake

In an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, producer Robert Tapert confirmed that he and director Sam Raimi deliberated for a long time before deciding to redo their cult-favorite 1981 horror movie.

"It took a long time to get to the point where we wanted to remake it. The funny thing is, nothing is as you would expect. Our original investors and I think [original Evil Dead star] Bruce [Campbell] and myself were more resistant to remaking the movie than Sam." says Tapert who thinks that with Raimi and himself on board as producers, the remake will live up to fans' expectation.

Tapert says "I think Sam was really the one who said, 'Gee, I would love to give a new filmmaker an opportunity to use that title and use their skills to retell this in a new way for a new audience.' I talk to Bruce Campbell every other day, and he says, 'You should see the message boards and all of the stuff I get saying "Please don't do it!", so we're certainly going to have to tread carefully...

As long as we stay true to what was the original model of the first Evil Dead, which was that we want to hurt and punish the audience, then those who love it will be satisfied. We mean to bring that out to a whole new generation in something that honors all of the people that loved it and yet gives them a new and thrilling ride that they weren't expecting. That's the challenge, and hopefully if we succeed that's kind of the glory."

Indie producer Fernando Sulichin's Central Films is producing, with financing from Italian investor Roberto DeNigris. Binoche plays an actress who becomes fascinated by Mary Magdalene after playing her in a film. Thesp's obsession takes her from New York on a voyage of discovery to Rome and Jerusalem, where the film will shoot through the end of February..."

Sam Raimi Talks More "Evil Dead"

During "Boogeyman" promotions, Sam Raimi and producer Robert Tapert have talked in-depth about the future of the "Evil Dead" franchise and what's going on in regards to both the sequel, and the remake.

Raimi confirmed to Bloody Disgusting that he will be directing and producing "Evil Dead 4", which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original". Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved.

Talking with Coming Soon, they confirmed the remake is almost certainly not going to be a PG-13 (ala "The Grudge" & "Boogeyman") and due to Bruce's insistence there will be no character called Ash. The aim with it is "Rob and I would try to get a young director with brand new ideas with his own cast and his own take on the thing" says Raimi who confirms that as of right now they're "waiting to find the right director for the project, that thinks he can really bring something new...the goal of this director should be to terrify the audience in a very intense, and merciless way". If they don't find someone, they would "put it on hold. I don't think we'd abandon it, but we won't make it unless we have a really good script and a really great director, somebody we feel is just right for it".

Wouldn't people get confused if the two films came out close to each other? Raimi told LatinoReview - "I think the fans are really smart. I don't think they'd be confused. I'd like to make a part four. There's this very small audience for Evil Dead IV, and if we ever make a movie called Evil Dead IV, which I'd like to make with Rob at some point and starring Bruce Campbell, I'm not saying there's a million people, but there's 100,000 people that will know exactly what it is and that's about as big as the crowd is, honestly. It's not a giant crowd. They're a great crowd". Tapert realized that the sequel might have to be Army of Darkness II, since Universal produced the most recent sequel.

The guys also confirmed they're working on "The Grudge 2 script reusing Sarah Michelle Gellar's character but no word yet either way on whether the actress will return.

Nicholson Turns Bad In "Departed"

Leonardo DiCaprio told Variety's Army Archerd this morning that Jack Nicholson is joining him and Matt Damon in Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" for Warner Bros. when filming begins in April.

Based on the hit Hong Kong gangster film "Infernal Affairs", this moves the action to Boston amid Irish-American mobsters and the cops who are their nemeses. Damon plays a gangster who has infiltrated the Boston police department as part of its cadet class and has been steadily rising through the ranks.

DiCaprio plays a cop who's been deep undercover inside the mob and is starting to come unglued. Each side works feverishly to flush the mole out, with deadly consequences. Nicholson would play an Irish gang boss. A female costar is yet to be chosen to play a cop psychiatrist.

Nicholson says the role "could be interesting," and admits he's been "looking for a bad guy - I did three comedies". He hasn't been in front of a camera in two years, but has been friends with Scorsese "for many years and we'd been looking for something to do together."

Willis en Stallone mogelijk in Tarantino-film

Quentin Tarantino heeft rollen geschreven voor Bruce Willis en Sylvester Stallone in zijn nieuwe film 'Inglorious Bastards'. Tarantino is sinds jaren bezig met het ontwikkelen van deze film, die zich afspeelt in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Tarantino had in de film eerder rollen gereserveerd voor Adam Sandler, Michael Madsen en de actieheld uit de jaren zeventig Bo Svenson. Of Stallone en Willis, met wie Tarantino eerder werkte in 'Pulp fiction', daadwerkelijk ooit in de film te zien zullen zijn, is nog niet bekend.

'Bastards' gaat over een groep verlinkte Amerikaanse soldaten, die in de Tweede Wereldoorlog ternauwernood weten te ontsnappen aan de dood. Ze stemmen in met een gevaarlijke missie om de geallieerden te helpen de nazi's te verslaan. Voorafgaand aan het realiseren van 'Bastards' wil Tarantino een kungfufilm maken in het Chinees, om de film vervolgens te laten nasynchroniseren in het Engels. De filmmaker is als acteur te zien in 'Hell Ride', een misdaadthriller waarin hij het personage Comanche vertolkt.

De release van 'Inglorious Bastards' staat gepland voor volgend jaar.

Dick Maas maakt nieuwe misdaadkomedie

Filmregisseur Dick Maas gaat een nieuwe film maken. Het is een

misdaadkomedie die luistert naar de naam Famous Last Words. Dat heeft producent Dave Schram van Shooting Star maandag bekendgemaakt. Het scenario is van Simon de Waal.

De hoofdrollen worden vertolkt door Thomas Acda, Paul de Munnik, Katja Schuurman en Thekla Reuten. Famous last words vertelt over twee jongens (Acda en De Munnik) die een gat in de markt hebben ontdekt: het op video vastleggen van testamenten.

Een stervende maffiabaas biecht, om te voorkomen dat zijn dochter

(Schuurman) ook in de misdaad belandt, in zijn videoboodschap al zijn zonden en misdaden op. Wanneer de zieke crimineel echter geneest, stuurt hij een huurmoordenaar (Reuten) op de twee jongens af om te voorkomen dat ze alle namen en gegevens op de videoband openbaar maken.

De opnames moeten eind van dit jaar plaatsvinden. Het budget van de film bedraagt 2 miljoen euro. Famous Last Words wordt de eerste speelfilm van Dick Maas sinds Down (2001), zijn eigen remake van zijn debuutfilm De Lift uit 1983.
