Batman vs. Superman (2004)

Premise: Not much is known yet (7/17/02) about the exact details of this film's premise, except that it involves a situation where the differing philosophical approaches of the caped guardians of Gotham City and Metropolis, long-time allies Batman and Superman, pit them against each other (and that this film does not follow the continuity of either of the previous Batman or Superman movies). There are rumors that the main villains are the Joker and Lex Luthor, but that's not confirmed. Also, I notice that Wolfgang Petersen keeps mentioning September 11th a lot... and how something horrible happens that sends Batman over the edge. Is it possible that something horrible, a sort of "cataclysm" (hint, hint, comics fans) happens to Gotham City? (9/18/02) This New York Times article, reprinted at SuperHeroHype, describes the premise as being about the death of Batman's girlfriend, which he blames on Superman, leading to a conflict between the two heroes, which culminates with Superman somehow "[saving] Batman's soul."

(8/12/02) The rumor mill continues to churn, with a post at Superman Home Page on 8/6/02 claiming that Josh Hartnett has joined Jude Law (and others) as a contender for the role of Superman, with Colin Farrell signed to play Bruce Wayne. As with all of these casting rumors, time will ultimately tell who's for real, and which stories were just some clever fan boys engaged in wishful thinking. For what it's worth, this pairing is also what AICN is reporting as well.

These are most likely wishful thinking from a fan somewhere, as any movie that put, for example, Gibson and Carrey together would be prohibitively expensive.

Production Weekly reports via Latino Review that casting has started on the live-action musical version of The Smurfs, based on the 80's animated series. Casting directors held open auditions in Los Angeles and New York over the weekend. Jeff Goldblum, who directed in 1995 the Oscar nominated live action short Little Surprises, will make his feature directing debut and star as the Smurfs nemesis Gargamel. "The script follows the Smurfs' efforts to fight off Gargamel, as he tries to smurf the smurf of Smurfette, in order to obtain her magical secrets and gain dignity among the wizard's fraternity. With the help of Brainy Smurf, Papa Smurf is able to smurf a plan to make Gargamel more smurf to thwart his efforts to ever smurf again."

Lijkt me echt een heel slecht ide. Ik heb zowiezo al iets tegen die kleine blauwe gedrochten.

Moet je voorstellen Al Pacino als grote smurf .

Volgens Miss België ziet een vrouw smurfen als ze 50 wordt.

Maar ik ben toch wel heel benieuwd naar deze film. Die blauwe mannetjes is voor mij echt jeugdsentiment!

Voor mij waren die kleine blauwe duivels echt een nachtmerrie. Iedereen vond het toen leuk behalve ik. Ik werd helemaal gek van al die kinderen die over die leuke smurfen-aflevering aan het praten waren. Het dieptepunt voor mij was wel bereikt toen de smurfenhouse kwam.

Is er eigenlijk al iets meer geweten over Megalopolis? Ik hoorde daarjuist Coppola op de audio-commentaar van The godfather part II er een toespeling op maken, en ben even op zoek gegaan, maar het enige dat ik heb gevonden is wie zou kunnen gaan meespelen, en dat ze begin 2003 gingen beginnen. Dat lijkt mij toch wel al even geleden, niet? Of is dit zo'n nieuwe apocalyps die pas volgend decenium af zal zijn? Of heeft hij het te druk met zijn dochter?

Ik las dat ze al begonnen waren met filmen, maar ook dat de cast nog steeds niet rond was, ...dus vooral onduidelijkheid.

Er is wel een synopsis:

This is the story of an architect who dreams of building the city of the future, hoping to enable people to live in an utopia where people only do the work they love to do... Utopia is something people have long sought. Is it attainable? (one major character is the Mayor)

Columbia koopt remake-rechten van Vlaamse Science Fiction.

Columbia Pictures heeft de remake-rechten gekocht van de Vlaamse film "Science Fiction". Het script zal worden herschreven door Kevin en Dan Hageman, de schrijvers van de Steven Spielberg-producties "Charlie Dills" en "Wizard of Oz Project".

"Science Fiction" werd geregisseerd door Dany Deprez naar een scenario van Chris Craps en Jean-Claude Van Rijckeghem. De film vertelt het verhaal van een jongen die onder invloed van zijn klasgenootjes gelooft dat zijn ouders aliens zijn.

Vorige maand waren er al berichten over een nakend akkoord, maar nu is de kogel definitief door de kerk. Volgens Lauren Shuler Donner, die voor Columbia Pictures zal instaan voor de productie van de remake van de Vlaamse film, is "Science Fiction de meest originele Europese film van de laatste jaren". Zeta-Jones in "Ocean´s Twelve"

Actrice Catherine Zeta-Jones gaat akkoord om een rol te vertolken in het vervolg op de film "Ocean´s Eleven". De sequel draagt de logische titel "Ocean´s Twelve". De actrice ontmoet op de set andere grote namen als George Clooney, Brad Pitt en Julia Roberts. Zeta-Jones begint te filmen van zodra ze klaar is met een andere sequel, "Zorro 2" met Antonio Banderas. "Nu heb ik twee van ´s werelds mooiste vrouwen in mijn film", aldus producent Jerry Weintraub. "Ik denk dat dit mijn topprestatie is. Ik wou al lang met Catherine werken en we hadden zo´n geweldige rol voor een vrouw. Het is niet eenvoudig om iemand van haar kaliber, een Oscarwinnares, te vinden." HLN
