Het gaat meer over de hele commotie om de cartoon over profeet Mohammed. De hele aflevering staat eigenlijk bol van de zelfspot (het bekritiseren van grappen die niets met het plot te maken hebben enzo 
). Mooie "carchase" ook, hoewel we die natuurlijk ook al met Cartman en Kenny gezien hebben in Cartman's Silly Hate Crime.
Benieuwd naar het vervolg .

Ik wacht nog even met kijken tot volgende week. Vervolgen zijn altijd zo irritant bij series. Overigens vond ik de vorige aflevering best wel goed; global laming

Ja, op FOK! is hier ook al een discussie over. Ik denk dat Parker en Stone inderdaad niet Mohammed mochten tonen, maar dat ze er zo'n stompzinnige situatie om hebben verzonnen dat het ook grappig is om het niet te laten zien (bij wijze van een soort Droste-effect).

Immediately after the episode aired, there was much speculation about whether Comedy Central actually censored the image of Mohammad, as represented within the episode. On April 13, 2006, Comedy Central issued a statement which appears to confirm that the network did prohibit the show's creators from airing an image of Muhammad. The statement reads, "In light of recent world events, we feel we made the right decision." An anonymous source close to the show indicated that Trey Parker & Matt Stone were informed of the policy several weeks earlier, and wrote this story arc in protest.
An April 13, 2006 interview with South Park Executive Producer Anne Garefino by Jim Lindgren on the weblog The Volokh Conspiracy reveals that the producers of the show continued to fight with the network executives over the censored scene right up to the night before the show aired. According to Garefino, the producers were given the choice to censor the scene themselves, or to provide the scene intact and allow Comedy Central to censor it. The producers elected to write the language of the censoring statement themselves. "We wanted everyone to understand how strongly we felt about this," said Garafino. The network's decision was reportedly based on fear of violent reprisal, rather than out of a sense of religious tolerance.
The plot of the episode can be interpreted as a direct satirical plea to Comedy Central executives (specifically, network president Doug Herzog) to reconsider their position on censorship. This interpretation is supported by the closing narration of Part I, which directly challenges Comedy Central not to "puss out," even though the plot of the show is ostensibly about Fox. Further support for this view can be found in the scene where Kyle attempts to convince the Fox president to air the Family Guy episode featuring Mohammad. Kyle says, "Yes, people can get hurt. That's how terrorism works. But if you give in to that, Doug, you're allowing terrorism to work." The current president of Entertainment for the Fox Broadcasting Company is named Peter Liguori. The name "Doug" is presumably a veiled reference to Comedy Central's president Doug Herzog, who previously served as president of Fox TV Entertainment from 1998-1999.
The ending of the episode, where Jesus, President Bush, and others are seen defecating on each other and the American flag, serves to illustrate the hypocrisy of the censorship decision. It begs the question, "Why is this acceptable to air, while an image of Mohammad, 'just standing there, looking normal,' is not?"

Mwa wel aardig. Vond de kritiek op Family Guy wat mild en simpel, heb ze beter uit de hoek zien komen.
Het was dan ook meer kritiek op Comedy Central. En de kritiek die ze op Family Guy hadden was natuurlijk net zo goed op South Park zelf van toepassing, dus ik zou het niet als keiharde kritiek zien maar meer als zelfspot.

O, misschien kwam het door het bericht van Jordy dat de makers Family Guy niet bepaald leuk vonden, dat ik hardere kritiek had verwacht. Dus het is weer eens Jordy's schuld

Kan best zijn dat ze het niet leuk vinden, maar ik blijf erbij dat ze het meer als voorbeeld hebben genomen om hun statement jegens Comedy Central duidelijk te maken dan om het eens flink te bashen.

Cartoon war en part 2 zijn toch goed vind ik persoonlijk.
Had wel ergens verwacht dat ze er over gingen beginnen in South Park maar ze hebben dat goed gedaan.

Talloze South Park fans hebben hun ongenoegen uitgesproken over de beslissing van Comedy Central om de aflevering rond profeet Mohammed te censureren.
Op de South Park website was onder andere te lezen: "This is a cowardly act." "You guys suck." "I could smell the stench of hipocrisy (sic) through my television." "Osama is proud of you." "Wake up America! Our way of life is being taken away!" "They have mocked the millions that have died throughout this countries (sic) history to ensure our rights." "With this move against free speech Comedy Central has become uncool and irrelevant." En dat waren nog de meeste nette bewoordingen.
Comedy Central liet vorige week weten dat de beslissing is genomen uit veiligheids overwegingen. Comedy Central:"Did we censor the show? Yes, we did. But if you hold Comedy Central's 15-year track record up against any other network out there, you'll find that we afford our talent the most creative freedom."

In dit geval gaat het om een Southparkaflevering van zo'n 1 á 2 weken terug. Over Cartman die (voor de 2e x? dat weet ik even niet) een buitenaardse antenne in z'n reet krijgt. Daarmee staat hij in verbinding met aliens, die de aarde tot een comedyshow hebben gemaakt die enorm populair is bij hen. Cartman en zn vrinden maken geweldig grappige dingen mee bij de aliens.
Wie oh wie weet hoe deze aflevering heet en op welke dvd hij verkrijgbaar is??

Dat zou opzich ook kunnen, maar dan moet ik nog steeds weten hoe 'ie heet toch? Ik heb geen dvd-brander en wel een goeie tv-installatie, dus kijk ik zoiets liever op dvd en zo duur zijn ze niet.
