Members of the Andriessen family have played an important role in Dutch culture for almost a century and a half. The composer Hendrik was a leading composer and Jurriaan and Louis still are. In addition, there is the visual artist Mari Andriessen. He is mainly known for his statues, such as the resistance monument De Dokwerker. But numerous sons, daughters, cousins also appear to devote themselves in various ways to music or the visual arts. The Andriessen family is highlighted by means of music registrations, archive images and interviews. In their diversity, the generations form a mirror of the political and cultural emancipation of the Catholic Netherlands.
