A fun and entertaining comedy. The humor lies mainly in the verbal with some more action at the end.
It was Jean Gabin's first film role in which he played someone older than he was at the time. And once again he proves his talent for comedy. The others are also great. For Pierre Fresnay it meant his farewell to cinema.
The story has something touching and folksy, and also something nostalgic. The fact of 3 bright guys who still want to make the most of their last years. Although it is certainly also a time capsule. The way a 65-year-old from back then is portrayed... as a senile elderly person who should not be taken seriously. On that level you will see the date of this film that I watched in a beautifully restored version.
