Mattie Ross is still alive thanks to the robust marshal Rooster Cogburn, but he is quite a gruff man and Mattie would like to see him a little more friendly. She tries to change him while Cogburn tries to fight evil in his own unorthodox way. However, the marshal thinks the wisecracking Mattie could be a little less intrusive.
