Yes... add the fourth part too. I think Plaza and Balaguero could still get along with the first two parts... after part three of Plaza that probably came to an end... or no... now it's Balaguero's turn to make part 4.

Part 3 didn't really go down well with the fans, but I had enjoyed it and a few times I was also bent over laughing. It was clear to me that this was not the intention in the entire REC concept. Like part 3, part 4 is also not Found Footage and we move to a cargo ship... where survivors of the two outbreaks (the one in Barcelona and the one at that wedding) are being closely monitored. One of the prisoners is Angela from part 1... part 4 then ends where part 2 ends... or was it part 1... with a police officer who freed Angela... He is also imprisoned... or something. And then there's also something about lab animals because a few idiots liked to test a virus sample on a few monkeys....

And that is asking for trouble... and now they are trapped like rats on an open sea and we manage to entertain ourselves for another hour and a half with the question of who would or would not be infected, hail of bullets, fights with the zombies where some of you wonder how it is possible that they manage to avoid every bite or scratch... oh yes... that mother-in-law from the wedding from part 3 is also one of the captives... That parasite, and some kind of romance between Angela and that clumsy security guard... doing really nice carnage with a boat propeller and... well... happy ending. Right? Not to mention the bombastic music that you often hear in American blockbusters.

Well... you can hardly place this next to the first two parts and you sometimes want to look around the corner for the nonsense. But I still managed to have a good time with this episode.

Will there be a part 5 as well?

3.5*

Tasteless snack!

Certainly not a worthy end to a great series! It is not the choice of location or the structure of the film. Once the mutants make their appearance, you get another fairly standard movie of people being slaughtered, but on a ship. Liked the stairwell or the wedding much better than this mess that just keeps entertaining to follow. Despite all the interesting theories and possible explanations, I found them to add little to the series. 3*

Just before the building is blown up where in [REC] and [REC]² many people have fallen victim to a virus that transforms them into bloodthirsty cannibals, members of a special unit TV journalist Angela Vidal [Manuela Velasco]. As a precaution, she is transferred to a quarantine ship where she is examined by Dr. Ricarte [Héctor Colome]. Anyone who has seen the previous films from this horror series knows that Angela has a secret that threatens to be revealed when it turns out that the film images she made for her report have also been saved. Balagueró abandons 'found footage' and adds more suspense and black humor than in the three predecessors. Another big plus is Velasco, who can convincingly show a completely different side of her character here. A superior and (therefore) extremely satisfying end to the [REC] franchise, even if Balagueró leaves the door open for a sequel.
