Elaine Barrish is the former wife of a United States president in the 1990s; Bud Barrish, who enjoyed a lot of popularity despite his many extramarital adventures. After leaving the White House, Elaine became governor of the state of Illinois and ran for the Democratic presidential candidacy, losing to Paul Garcetti. Now, two years later, she is separated from her husband and Minister of Foreign Affairs. She tries to keep her department in line and her family together.
