Southland plot
Southland provides a raw and authentic view of the LAPD's work in Los Angeles. It shows the arduous and often frustrating work and private lives of a number of officers and detectives. Many police officers have problems with their health or their relationships. There are often conflicts between colleagues and the work does not always lead to success. Young cop Ben Sherman, who recently graduated from the police academy, learns that police work doesn't always go by the book and that officers' personal problems can affect their work. His partner John Cooper initially does not like him because Sherman comes from the better circles. Other major characters include Detective Sammy Bryant, whose marriage is in deep crisis, Detective Lydia Adams, whose private life suffers from her job, Agent Chickie Brown, Detective Daniel Salinger, Detective Nate Moretta, and Detective Russell Clarke.
