I was warned in advance that it would be less than the previous part(s). But no, great movie, which I enjoyed watching.

There are again a lot of characters, Jabba is put in the spotlight this time and that is not a bad choice. The scenes with him in the cave were great, partly because all the crazy people that passed by were again going crazy. Nothing wrong with it.

The whole movie is actually just okay. The climax is the denouement between the Emperor, Darth Vader and Luke. It's been a while since I saw it, pretty soon after part V, but the denouement stuck with me for a long time.

All in all, this is a series that is leading in film history, certainly starting from scratch, working towards the end. Now take a look at part 7. I wonder if that part can surpass the real 'oldskool' old parts. There is still a hint of romance to the old parts, even though I didn't grow up with the oldest parts.

Nice film that might even score higher in the future.

Solid.

But sadly remembered better. After the excellent The Empire Strikes Back they should have made something better of this. In any case, it takes almost halfway before it really matters. That childish beginning with Jabba and co, with those two monsters as the low point, should have been much shorter.
Only when the film focuses more on story, such as scenes with Luke and Yoda - who actually shines like a doll in a beautiful death scene -, does the level rise again. The finale is well handled - battle on 3 fronts -, were it not for the fact that the Ewoks are too idiotic for words. Well, the impact of the clash between Palpatine, Anakin and Luke is still there. Star Wars is in my opinion the story of Anakin and that is simply a beautiful story. However, the character Luke supports that story very well.

Mark Hamill also puts Luke down a little differently and better this time than in the previous parts. He's quite secular compared to more colorful characters à la Han Solo, but that's what I enjoy the most.

Also this time I saw the Special Edition again. The additions are (unfortunately) more noticeable this time. Unfortunately, in the case of ugly aliens who obviously didn't hop around the set before. In terms of recognisability, the look is again successful here - the setting of the final is excellently chosen.
And oh yeah, the young Anakin as Force Ghost comes full circle, especially after watching the series chronologically in story - after all, that's Anakin the Jedi, as he was destined used to be.

Perhaps better than Empire Strikes Back, although I also found some lesser parts in it. It is clearly better than A New Hope. For now, I'm still moderate about the entire Star Wars universe, it doesn't bother me much but the films I saw this week were slightly better than the few parts I once watched separately.

Jabba The Hut didn't immediately appeal to me as an interesting character. The pit scene was good, but I find the action in the old parts a bit wooden. The ending in which Luke has to choose is also okay.
