"Everything you know about desire is dead wrong"
Frannie is a teacher in New York. Part of a body is found near her house. Detective Malloy comes to her to ask if she has heard or seen anything, but she can't tell him anything. She does want to know all the sickening details about the murder. During the investigation into the murder, the two seek each other more and more and the attraction that develops is impetuous, irresistible and at times almost perverse. When more and more murders are committed, also in Frannie's immediate environment, she has to choose between emotion and reason. And she must confront the mysterious and attractive cop who has turned her life upside down.

The film is especially good in form and atmosphere. Ryan and Ruffalo are excellent.
The weakness lies mainly in the unbelievable plot and the behavior of the characters combined with the excessive violence.

Moderate erotic thriller. The mystery surrounding the murders is not interesting and the perpetrator comes into view very quickly (because misogynistic - so murderer). It doesn't get really exciting anywhere, and the erotic undertones are dull and not very credible. It is atmospheric and visually there are a number of beautiful scenes. With a strong Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo. They deserve a better movie.

Standard whodunnit about a muddled detective who falls in love with a witness while investigating a serial killer. The story has little to offer and is perhaps therefore brightened up with a handful of naked images of Meg Ryan as the sex-hungry teacher. Miss Tyan looks nice with and without clothes, but she too can't save the movie on her own.
