Pacific Rim plot
"To fight monsters, we created monsters."
The film is set in two separate worlds. The first is a future version of Earth where in November 2012, a giant monster emerged from the Pacific Ocean and attacked the city of Osaka in Japan. The other world is the Anteverse, where the monster came from. A portal to this world is five miles under water. Since the initial attack, the portal has been spewing out more and more monsters that are attacking the coastal towns, including Tokyo and Los Angeles. To defeat the monsters, the military develops the "Jaeger" program that trains teams of two pilots to operate giant mechanical armor full of weapons.

Watched for an hour then gave up. Visually it looks good, but the story doesn't make sense at all. Just got annoying in the long run.

Nicely made spectacle film, now I'm not a real fan of this kind of movies big robots versus even bigger monsters. But I thought this one was pretty good, even the rest of the story has to rely mainly on the CGI and they look very cool. The cast also plays well including Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and a nice cameo from Ron Perlman make this a real popcorn movie made by a master director Guillermo del Toro who makes man nothing but beautiful.
