Definitely has its charms (MJW is a boss), but those 90's clichés are still incredibly shitty. Such a big side kick is usually the big culprit in terms of frustrations during this period and in that respect it is quite right that this is always a tad cursed for decades, because it just keeps coming back. Who comes up with such terrible figures and what is the audience that feels called upon? It remains separate, because it is neither funny nor clever.

Effects are quite witty, especially because I can appreciate the dated look of the scenes in (among other things) hell.

A funny bad movie. Painfully bad story, wooden dialogues, lousy editing, ugly setting, downright repulsive special effects (remarkably enough now and then interspersed with pretty nice CGI)... All in all, Spawn is just not to look at, but that also has such is its charm. In any case, I can't help but laugh that Martin Sheen's secret organization seems to consist of only four people or that Spawn has only two emotions, namely "angry because my wife is married to someone else" and "forgiving because I have a daughter." '. Nice, but really bad at the end of the day.

Spawn is a dredge movie. Even in the past, when I enjoyed watching it several times a month, I already knew it was a dredging film. The way the story is shaped by the voice-over of a pointless character (played by an unparalleled actor who clearly didn't feel like it) is terribly kitschy, Jai White clearly didn't have the strength to play a lead role here, Martin Sheen is too good for this movie, Melinda Clarke on the other hand is perfect (by which I mean she gets away with playing a meaningless character in too tight suits) and only John Leguizamo is unparalleled. There's a lot of action that's too bloodless for words, the CGI is terrible (but oh so fittingly cartoony in a movie like this) and the story is rushed. It's not all good, but oh, it entertains me every time again because of the terrible one-liners, the clown and some great scenes. It makes sense for Spawn to be drilled into the ground everywhere, but damn if it's not fun to watch.
