Under the Red Robe plot
"Swashbucker Gil De Berault is bound for the guillotine when he is given one last chance for a pardon."
Cardinal Richelieu wants to spare the life of the death row swordsman Gil de Berault. In return, he must capture the leader of the Huguenots. Gil travels to the leader's castle and is allowed to stay there as a guest, but the man's wife and sister immediately suspect that he is a spy. When Gil falls in love with the sister, things don't get any easier.
