Mysterious Intruder plot
"A WOMAN SCREAMS! A KILLER STRIKES!"
Edward Stillwell, the friendly old music store owner, hires private detective Don Gale to search for Elora Lund. Stillwell hasn't seen her for seven years. Gale has Freida Hanson impersonate the missing Elora and finds out that some of the items left behind Elora's mother are now very valuable. One Harry Pontos kills old Stillwell and kidnaps Freida. He lets her go again when he learns from Gale that she is not the real Elora. With Freida's help, Gale finds out Pontos's address, but upon arrival, Pontos is found shot during a shootout with the police. Gale returns home, but upon arrival is arrested by Detectives Taggart and Burns and jailed.
