The Hit List plot

"Who's on your list?"

Allan Campbell (Cole Hauser) has had a bad day. He goes to a bar to drown his worries. In a drunken stupor, he talks to a mysterious man who calls himself Jonas (Cuba Gooding Jr.). After a while Jonas admits to killing people for money and asks Allan to write down five people he would like dead. Allan sees the fun in it and writes down the names to join the game. When the dead begin to pile up and Detective Neil McKay (Jonathan LaPaglia) tracks down Allan, it turns out it's not a joke. He will now have to do everything in his power to stop the murders.

Mediocre action thriller about a hit man with his to-do list. Mega predictable, never exciting, but sometimes action-packed. The ending was totally over the top. Fail.

Nice B-movie in this genre. Gooding Jr. can rarely impress, but I certainly didn't think this was his worst work. You do get some sympathy with him throughout the film.
In a somewhat sick way he tries to teach Allan to stand up for himself in life.
Jonas has been used as a weapon all his life and was discarded as a piece of shit. Since his death is not far away anyway, he decides to use his "art" one more time to vent his own frustrations and that of Allan on 5 people. I think everyone could make a list of some people they wouldn't miss if they were dead.
That this is then carried out seems to me to be a very panicking situation.
So I thought it was a good starting point. Here and there it got a bit long-winded/monotonous/boring.
Could have lived a little more, but for 1 time quite nice to fill an evening.

A decent role for Cuba Gooding Jr. Along with his role in Wrong Turn At Tahoe, this is one of his better works that I've seen of him lately. Movie itself is quite entertaining. Looks a bit like Collateral, so obviously far from original. Nevertheless, quite an exciting film with action scenes that are certainly not bad. Entertaining, but at the same time a film that is above all standard.
