A good movie that kept me interested throughout the entire run. The Client's strength and perhaps for others its weakness is the protagonist Brad Renfro. Personally, I thought he did a very good job. He came across as very stubborn and that was the intention of his role. Lawyer Reggie Love also did that very well. I can't immediately imagine seeing Susan Sarandon act before. Again, I see that there is still a lot to see.

The soundtrack is by Howard Shore and here he lays exactly the foundation of a well-known song from LOTR. And here too he makes the film better. It may not be a masterpiece, but it is a fine courtroom drama with quite a bit of tension. During the film there is a bit too much work towards the sentimental, but long-awaited ending.

setback. It started out promisingly, but gradually it became apparent that the momentum in the story was completely absent from the characters, who seemed to have been cut straight from the thin paper of the bouquet series. Even Tommy Lee Jones couldn't break the straitjacket of an overblown cliché image of an FBI career fighter.

Unfortunately, the story also derailed in a completely unbelievable series of coincidences, causing the whole to degenerate into meaningless rubbish.

In short, this film can be added to the Bassie&Adriaan series.

Typical 90s product in the vein of other advocacy films like The Firm and The Pelican Brief. Good and solid thrillers at the time, nowadays no longer of the standard that is used and in that sense outdated and unspectacular.

The Client can still be recognized by a fairly simple story about witness Mark who knows something he should not have known and the legal wrangling around him. Something that does lead to some nice dialogues and scenes. Where the film suffers the most, however, are the characters and overacting of different actors, something that of course also depends on the direction and possibly script. Jones does not convince as an exaggerated vain with extravagant mannerisms, Patton has strange traits as a nice uncle cop and Renfro convinced at first as an early adult and self-reliant boy, but later turns to unrealistically obstinate and obstinate. However, Sarandon convinces in a very solid role, Parker also puts her role as the not too bright trailer trash mommy down nicely. Yet most characters come across as too contrived, for example Muldone's dressing in always a jacket and nothing underneath. Too flashy, too tough, I can't take it seriously right away...

The Client, nothing gained, nothing missed. Just nice for once, but nothing more.
