Texas rancher Steve Braddock is in charge of bringing a large herd of cattle owned by his employer rancher Grayson from Texas to Dodge City, Kansas. Slim, rancher Grayson's Eastern-trained musical son gets to go with Steve. En route, at Plainview, Steve and Slim rescue Marian Phillips after she was kidnapped by Dawson's outlaw gang in a stagecoach robbery. Marian tells Steve that she is the daughter of the local rancher Philips and that she has not seen her father for a long time. But Steve doesn't know of a rancher Philips that fits her description. Steve suspects that Kenyon Jackson, the sneaky proprietor of the Plainview gambling palace, is her father. Steve finds out that this Kenyon Jackson is involved in Dawson's illegal activities.
