So this is a great combination between comedy and a spy thriller, old hands in the business don't take themselves too seriously and that works out very well in this film, wonderfully the grim roles of Freeman and Dreyfus, but the show is still stolen by Malkovich, great role of him, Malkovich is an actor who can be lost in many characters, he often makes something special out of it. The cast pushes each other to good acting and then you see that in a movie about spies you need very few special effects, they are nicely portrayed, especially those where a pistol bullet detonates a grenade.[/spoiler ].
Red is definitely a movie I will see more often.

"I remember the Secret Service being tougher"

Reviewing tonight. Great entertaining action comedy. Former CIA agent Frank Moses (Willis) is disturbed in his quiet retired life and has to flee for his life. A maddening adventure follows with his friends (and enemies) from the past who make up the RED: Retired Extremely Dangerous!

The action is top notch and there are funny moments throughout the movie. Unlike the average comedy, the acting is good. John Malkovich excels as the paranoid Marvin Boggs.

Black-ops agent Frank Moses [Bruce Willis] is RED (Retired, Extremely Dangerous), but turns out to be the target of a reckoning. He manages to flee with his unsuspecting girlfriend [Mary-Louise Parker] and then contacts the RED agents he used to work with. They are the only ones who can help him find out who is after him and save his life. A standard action plot acts as a pleasant excuse to give a slew of renowned acting veterans the chance to play action heroes. Among them Ernest Borgnine, Morgan Freeman, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, but Malkovich steals the film as the extremely paranoid Marvin. Followed by the superfluous Red 2.
