In 1928, Meredith, an unmarried woman of 35, arrives with her uncle on a remote island. Her grumpy uncle has to make sure that the local lighthouse keepers - the charming Harry and the introverted Fleet - do a better job. Meredith, who, in the eyes of her uncle, cannot easily do well, must confront Harry's rambunctious children and stiff wife. Her indestructible optimism is the only thing that keeps her going. When Meredith has to be left behind on the island due to circumstances, romance is the last thing she expected...
