"A Government Lie. A Woman's Secret. A Story That Must Be Told."
From 1932 to 1972, American scientists appear to have conducted experiments on poor black farmers in Alabama. 600 farmers have become fatally ill while no one admitted what was going on. In fact, the doctors did not give penicillin, which would be a cure, to continue the experiment. Miss Evers learned the truth, and continued to care for her patients with love. The story follows her, her love for one of her patients and eventually the controversial lawsuit.
